What is Interactive English?
Interactive English allows HSC English students across NSW to be fully supported by experienced teachers right up to the final HSC English exam. Students can submit essays online and get feedback and direction from our team of experienced HSC markers within 72 hours. As well as giving you access to highly experienced HSC English teachers and markers, the website has video lessons for each of your texts, essay writing templates (or the "Grid" as we call it), sample A range essay responses plus much more.

Who marks the work submitted by students?

All work is marked by experienced teachers who are either current HSC markers or have extensive experience marking the HSC for the NSW Board of Studies.

What kind of feedback will I receive on work submitted for marking?

The marker will correct obvious mistakes, demonstrate how the essay can be changed to comply with a task or HSC outcomes, address any structural problems the essay might have, and provide a mark based on HSC expectations.


Can you help with HSC Extension English?

While we do not have resources covering the Extension English courses, students can submit their Extension English work for marking, feedback and direction from our team of experienced markers. Students will receive feedback on all submitted work within 72 hours.

Will Interactive English teach me how to write an essay?

We have developed systems around our essay writing template, or the "Grid" as we call it, which are designed to get students writing straight away. The accumulation of endless notes and the subsequent highlighting of these notes will not bring the student any closer to being able to write a great essay in 40 minutes.Our brief but excellent resources of video lessons, excellent sample essays and the Grid (you can even create your own grid and save it) provide the necessary support to allow students to focus on their writing. Once students have attempted some writing they are able to submit the work to an experienced HSC marker for feedback and direction on how they can improve their writing next time. Once students embark on this journey of being willing to make mistakes and learn from these mistakes they will undoubtedly learn how to write a great HSC English essay.

Why is HSC English so important to my UAI?
As 2 units of English count in the calculation of a student's UAI, without a good result in English students will have difficulty in getting into many University courses.

When is the best time to make the purchase?
You can benefit from using Interactive English over any period of time. To maximize the usefulness of the site however, we recommend signing up as early in the year as possible. 

Why is practice so important?
You don't learn to surf by watching surfing DVDs. You learn by getting out there and doing it. This also applies to writing. Practice makes perfect.
The HSC English Syllabus is loaded with information and your teachers do a great job in getting through this content during the school year. Unfortunately this leaves very little time for writing practice. We believe that writing is a skill more than a talent and that by practicing with the frameworks we provide, you will be able to reach your potential when writing responses for HSC English.

What texts do you offer?
We offer most English HSC texts for both the Standard and Advanced HSC courses. Extension texts will be available in the future - please register your interest by sending an email with your Extension texts to info@interactiveenglish.com.au

How long does it take to mark my response (essay)?
Responses are generally marked within 72 hours of submission, questions within 48 hours. 

What are the technical requirements?
The website can be accessed from either a PC (running Windows) or Mac. Due to the interactive nature of the website, the following requirements need to be met. Note that these most likely already represent the setup on your computer
