What services does FergHSC offer?

We offer a range of services to help students to have a successful experience in secondary school. Our Bondi Junction tuition centre has been open since 1996 successfully serving the needs of students in the Eastern Suburbs as well as students who have travelled from other parts of Sydney. Our online service means that we can provide essay coaching to students located anywhere in NSW as well as those students who are completing their HSC at one of the Australian Schools located across Asia.

What is FergHSC Online English Tuition?

FergHSC allows HSC English students across NSW to be fully supported by experienced teachers right up to the final HSC English exam. Students can submit essays online and get feedback and direction from our team of experienced HSC markers within 72 hours. As well as giving you access to highly experienced HSC English teachers and markers, the website has video lessons for each of your texts, essay building templates (or the "EBT" as we call it), sample A range essay responses (colour coded and analysed sentence by sentence), and sample HSC style questions for you to practice your responses.

What is the FergHSC online system for HSC English success?
Our online English Essay Writing System for HSC Standard English and HSC Advanced English has been developed specifically for the NSW HSC with the NSW Board of Studies syllabus outcomes in mind. These features are especially useful for those students who are struggling with the common problems of not knowing where to start or how to structure an essay. For students who already have an essay and need feedback on how to improve it, the resources available serve as a reference point to see how an excellent response is constructed.

What do I get for my $89 registration fee?

The $89 registration fee will give you:

  • Video lessons, sample "Band 6" responses, sample Essay Building Templates for each of your Standard or Advanced English texts.
  • Access to sample HSC style essay questions, past HSC exam questions and submit any of these for marking and feedback.
  • Your first 20 prepaid FergHSC marking credits to submit your first essay for marking and feedback. (Members can purchase additional marking credits at any time.)
  • The ability to submit questions, practice essays, and drafts for assessment tasks at any time and receive your work back in your inbox within 72hours.

My student is in Year 10, will I have to pay the $89 registration fee every year?

No. The $89 registration fee is a one off payment. The only thing you will need to purchase(if you choose to) is additional marking credits (you will receive 20 marking credits to get your first four essays marked for free).

Who marks the work submitted online by students?

All work is marked by experienced teachers who are either current HSC markers or have extensive experience marking the HSC for the NSW Board of Studies.Click here to meet our team of HSC markers.

What kind of feedback will I receive on work submitted for marking?

The marker will correct obvious mistakes, demonstrate how the essay/response can be changed to comply with a task or HSC outcomes, address any structural problems the essay might have, and provide a mark based on HSC expectations.Read more about the feedback you will receive by clicking here.


What other subjects can I get online HSC support in?
You can submit practice essays or tasks for assessment tasks or exams for any of the below subjects and receive feedback from an experienced HSC marker within 72 hours. FergHSC students can view and attempt past HSC questions through the website as well as attempt questions which are exclusive to FergHSC, created by one of our markers.

All essays and assessment tasks submitted through the website will be returned to your inbox within 72 hours with a mark, suggestions on how to improve your structure and suggestions on how to write more succinctly.

What questions can I submit to the markers for marking?

FergHSC is your HSC tutor for all of the subjects that we offer tuition in. The FergHSC marking team can mark your practice responses for school assessments, school exams, the HSC Trial Exams and the final HSC exams. For each of the subjects there is the option for you to "Create your own question" where you can type in the specific question or assessment task that you are preparing for so our marker knows what you are working on.

Alternatively members can view past HSC paper questions for each subject as well as essay questions, extended response and short answer questions exclusive to FergHSC which have been created by the FergHSC marking team to help you prepare for any unseen questions or tasks in an exam situation.

Will FergHSC teach me how to write an essay?

We have developed a proven system for writing excellent HSC English essays. At the corner stone of our system is the Essay Building Template or "EBT" which allows you to collate your information in one place as well as providing a clear structure for you to write your essay. The "EBT" combined with our resources of a video lesson, excellent sample "A range" responses, are specifically designed to get you writing great better essays, faster.
The accumulation of endless notes and the subsequent highlighting of these notes will not bring the student any closer to being able to write a great essay in 40 minutes. Once students have attempted some writing they are able to submit the work to an experienced HSC marker for feedback and direction on how they can improve their writing next time. Students who follow our proven system and be willing to make mistakes and learn from these mistakes they will undoubtedly learn how to write great HSC English essays.

Why is HSC English so important to my ATAR?
As 2 units of English must count in the calculation of a student's ATAR, without a good result in English students will have difficulty in getting into many University courses.
