A successful HSC 2011 campaign begins in only 6 weeks
27 August, 2010For students who are currently in Year 11 their HSC campaign will begin in only 6 weeks time. In the couple of weeks prior to commencing their HSC there is a great amount of enthusiasm and excitement about being the most senior students in the year and having only one year of school to go before entering the world as a fully fledged adult.
While there are many paths to HSC success, undoubtedly the most effective path to take is adopting a 12 month campaign of consistent effort with appropriately timed breaks to ensure students reach their peak performance at the right time.
A balanced and consistent effort is often easier said than acheived as there are many distractions throughout students final year of schooling including drivers licenses, 18th birthday parties, sporting commitments, part time jobs, and discouraging and disappointing assessment results.
Maintaining consistency is something that can be difficult not only for HSC students but for all of us as we try and achieve our best. One way to assist with consistency of effort is to gain the support of a mentor or tutorial support throughout the HSC year. Having a mentor who has recently completed the HSC and managed to overcome the challenges and achieve success(whatever that might mean to each of us) will help students keep the HSC in perspective as well as the clarity and motivation to keep moving forward. Student mentors might come in the form of a friend or friend of the family. FergHSC has a number of student mentors as part of our team of HSC experts who are always on hand to provide encouragement and advice to current FergHSC students.
Another great mentor option is through a HSC coach or HSC tutor. Tapping into the experience of a teacher who is commited to coach you through the ups and downs of the HSC for a particular subject can be a great way to develop consistency and stay on track during the HSC. Gaining exposure to someone like HSC Coach Fergus, owner and founder of FergHSC, with his 30 plus years of HSC experience puts students at a significant advantage to those who are going the journey alone. Apart from Fergus the teaching team at FergHSC has a vast amount of experience in each of their different subjects.
