Tips for choosing your Belonging related texts
20 November, 2010
Hi everyone,
Here are a few quick tips from Ferg to help you choose a perfect related text for your HSC English Belonging essay.
-
Try to select a text that is relatively short. There is no point reading a novel for a text you are going to write 200-300 words on in your essay.
-
Select a text that is a different text type to your prescribed text
-
If you are selecting a film look at Tropfest FILMS (there are plenty on youtube)
-
Make sure that you can establish a strong connection with your prescribed text.
Writing up your text
-
Make sure that you do not simply tell the story of your text
-
Make sure that you don’t write more than 300 words
-
Make sure that your discussion is rich in quotes and techniques. I suggest at least 6 of each
Remember, if you have any specific questions about choosing related texts for your Belonging essay or any of your other modules (conflicting perspectives, History and Memory etc) you can use the "Ask a question" function within our website.
